Literacy: It’s Not Just About Reading & Writing Anymore! Participants will explore the power that literacy education brings to the success potential of learners (both young and old). The discussion will extend the concept of literacy beyond that of just reading and writing proficiency, to the liberating life-benefits of both text and non-text communications prowess.

Create. Share. Present. Control. Get out from behind the computer podium. Access your pedagogical materials remotely while you move among your students to wirelessly present your lessons. This session will cover the following ways to integrate technology into you STEM/STEAM or regular classroom setting to get the most out of your students and technology.

Texas Tech Project Based Learning and STEM: Education in STEM is a hot topic. We hear about it on the news and read about it in magazines and newspapers. Do you really understand it though? If someone asked you, could you really define it? This session will focus on STEM education and how Project Based Learning fits into the equation.

Bridging Middle School Math and Science with Motion: Come walk your way through math and science, exploring rate of change with technology built for students.

STEM Activities & Materials from Texas Instruments: Texas Instruments has numerous free resources to support the instruction of STEM activities. Such programs as “STEM Behind Hollywood”, the nationally recognized “STEM Behind Health”, “NASA and TI: Mission Imagination”, and “STEM Behind Sports” provide excellent opportunities for students to explore a variety of topics with TI technology. Attendees will also receive an overview of materials for the new TI-Innovator System (www.ti-innovator.com) featuring coding and engineering design. Come discover what TI has to offer.

What High School Students Need to Know in Preparation for College Mathematics: Come learn strategies for preparing students in both STEM and non-STEM fields. For STEM students:  Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, and Beyond! For non-STEM students: Liberal Arts Mathematics vs. College Algebra.

Hands-On, Minds-On: Teaching 21st Century Skills through Engineering Design: Engineer Your World empowers teachers to facilitate project-based, inquiry-driven learning as their students develop and apply skills in science, mathematics, and computing to solve "real world" challenges. The program engages students in interesting design activities that require and support the development of analytical reasoning, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and other 21st century skills. Students also have the opportunity to earn dual-enrollment credit from UT-Austin or UT-Permian Basin.
